2019 HOMECOMING FESTIVAL

October 5-6, 2019 - The 2019 Homecoming Festival was an extraordinary event curated by blues legend Taj Mahal.

When asked about Mississippi John Hurt's influence on his music, Mr. Mahal states, "he was the mentor for my signature fingerpickin' style and that several of my famous and popular songs are based directly on Daddy John's style of pickin'."

It was a perfect evening as Taj Mahal captivated the packed audience with an exciting set under the stars. He treated our ears and souls to many favorites and it will always be a night to remember.

In addition to his outstanding performance, the weekend included special guests that included Jesse Colin Young, The Howard Curry Duo, Dom Flemons, the Piedmont Blūz Acoustic Duo, Jim Kweskin, Guy Davis with Christopher James, the Como Mamas, Gigi Iam, Pastor Jay Terrell with Country Jim, and more.

The Mississippi John Hurt Foundation is thrilled that Taj Mahal took the lead in this special event. His participation increased awareness of the Foundations mission.
