HOW TO GET HEREYou will need a car to reach the Mississippi John Hurt festival grounds. Whether you are local or flying into Jackson, Memphis, or Helena, use this map and directions to help guide you. These country roads will take you back to the days when John Hurt lived in Avalon. County Road 109 - a long, winding dirt road leading directly to the festival grounds - is especially scenic.
From Greenwood - Take Highway 7 going North toward Grenada and turn Right onto County Road 41. Take County Road 41 to County Road 109 and turn Left onto County Road 109. Go Left at each fork on County Road 109. The festival grounds are on County Road 109 and will be on your Left near the end of the road.
From Grenada - Take Highway 7 going South toward Greenwood and turn Left onto County Road 41. Take County Road 41 to County Road 109 and turn Left onto County Road 109. Go Left at each fork on County Road 109. The festival grounds are on County Road 109 and will be on your Left near the end of the road.
From Carrollton - Take Highway 35 going North and turn Left onto County Road 41. Take County Road 41 to County Road 109 and turn Right onto County Road 109. Go Left at each fork on County Road 109. The festival grounds are on County Road 109 and will be on your Left near the end of the road.
